THEIR ASSOCIATED ODORS.

Decomposition Cleanup Services - Steri-Clean® South Dakota

Biohazards from decomposing bodies can cause harm to both the environment and humans. When a biohazard isn’t properly cleaned up it releases tiny microorganisms via contact and air. If not professionally cleaned, spilled blood, body fluids, and human waste can lead to big problems. When cleaning up any type of biohazard, Steri-Clean® South Dakota uses EPA standards during the cleanup, which quickly eradicates long-lasting biohazards such as Hepatitis.

Unattended Death and Decomposition Cleanup

Finding a loved one who has passed away can be truly devastating. If the person’s body has not been discovered for a number of days, the body would have started to decompose. This means, on top of the trauma, there will be a very unpleasant odor and mess to clean up.

After death, the human body begins to decompose between 24 to 72 hours. The process starts with algor mortis, which is the period when the body cools off and takes on the temperature of the surrounding environment. This is also the period when body fluids like blood can pool to the parts of the body that are closest to the ground. When these fluids seep out onto the ground below the body, they can saturate the area. As you can imagine, these fluids can be dangerous to humans and the property.

Next rigor mortis sets in, where the body’s muscles stiffen and become difficult to move. This can happen anywhere from 2-6 hours following death. As the body continues to decay, enzymes and bacteria in the body start to break down the body. These then spread outside the body, causing the smell.

Decomposition Cleanup: Steri-Clean South Dakota

At Steri-Clean® South Dakota, we understand that experiencing death is extremely difficult. Whether you’ve lost a friend or family member, we know how hard this time is and that cleaning up after a decomposing body can make the experience even worse. Let us take care of the cleanup to ensure that the place of death is safe for those left behind.

Steri-Clean® South Dakota uses a special illuminator that shows where the fluids are or where they may have seeped into. We deep clean the entire area so that remaining biohazards may have gotten onto or into. This then successfully gets rid of the smell and contaminants, making the area safe once again.
